The 53rd London Film Festival was held from 14th to 29th of October. Besides the commercial movie section; world cinema which featured international movies, short films, animation films, avant-garde films, and countless non-commercial experimental films, the highlight of the festival would have to be the premier of "Nowhere Boy", a feature debut by the renowned artist Sam Taylor-Wood, who has overcome her battle against two cancers. Expanding her artistic horizon from the arts to the films, parallel to her transition from fine arts to commercial films, Sam Taylor-Wood had previously produced short films that reflect her fight against death; Still Life (2001), A Little Death (2002), and Love You More (2008).

Nowhere Boy

Double Take

The experimental section, which screen avant-garde films, will showcase 7 recently restored works of the acclaimed avant-garde film maker Hollis Frampton from the 70's. Joan Grimoprez, an artist and a movie director, portrays the subject of identity, film-making, power and paranoia through the found footage of Hitchcock's films in his Mockumentary 'Double Take.'
