Jean-Luc Godard:: JLG-Self-Portrait ,Seoul Art Cinema April 12^th-20^th 2008

A special presentation of Jean-Luc Godard (1930-), the godfather of Cahiers du Cinema and Nouvelle Vague, will be held at Seoul Art Cinema. His most recent films from 1995, 2001, and 2004 will be screened.

The 3 films to be shown are JLG-Self-Portrait in December, In Praise of Love, and Our Music, which will be followed by special lectures of Film Studies Professors Jeong-Ha Lee and Seong-Tae Kim on the 12^th, 13^th, and 19^th.   www.cinematheque.co.kr

The 10^th International Women’s Film Festival in Seoul  April 10^th-18^th 2008

The biggist women’s film festival in Korea reaches its 10^th year this year. 10 years for a film festival is quite an accomplishment when the number of film festivals in Korea is taken into account. As it held in the vicinity of Sinchon, a vast number of young female audiences can be expected. This year’s festival aims to celebrate its 10^th anniversary and also break old rules by showing films directed by male directors.

The 2008 International Women’s Film Festival in Seoul, which attempts to gain take on new perspective, will be holding a lecture by a leading feminist theorist, Teresa de Lauretis. The festival will be opened with ‘Ten-Ten’, which was filmed in commemoration of the 10^th anniversary of the festival, and is scheduled to include a workshop of a documentary movie about immigrant females in Hoingseong, Kangwon-do.
